These photos give some glimpes into the Car Shop/Diesel Shop interior. A steel truss roof is modeled from metal etchings. A central platform provides easier access for the mechanics. Numerous details are provided for the modeler to use on the interior or the outside. The dimensions of this building are 14.5" x 5.5" for the main building with a 1.5" x 5" measurement for the extension which is on the right side of the facility.
Dick Elwell's Hoosac Valley, shown below, was the initial inspiration for our involvement in this project. It's since been reconstructed after a move, and this scene up and running real. Check out the photos below to get an idea of how the project progressed.
This view of the yard on The Hoosac Valley Lines shows the old diesel shop we are replacing from behind. The 7 stall SRM Brick Roundhouse can be seen to the upper left.
The structure as you see it in the above photo is an early prototype of the kit. It has just been placed on Dick's layout to check for fit.
