This kit was based on a classic, family owned business that is still owned and run today by the same family. For well over a hundred years, the Rugg Manufacturing Co. has operated a metal stamping and wood handle products business in this building in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Production has included shovels, rakes, mower handles and ammunition clips for armed services during World War II. Steel from distant mills and wood from nearby local sawmills, were sent by way of The Fitchburg Division of the Boston and Maine Railroad. The last few hundred feet was traversed by a unique narrow gauge line, complete with its own turntable and special, "gravity feed" flat cars.
The Rugg Manufacturing Diorama is two buildings; a large, complex wood frame and masonry structure that measures 13 &1/2" x 10" and a 3" x 4" stucco building.
